WHAT IS CANSTRUCTION?

Canstruction, a food and awareness raising event, provides teams of architects, engineers, designers, tradespeople and students a chance to extend their creativity, teambuilding and community support as they compete against others to destroy hunger. Impressive structures have been built out of thousands of cans of food showcasing teams' talent to more than 10,000 viewers at Conestoga Mall during March Break. The food in the builds will be shared with the community. The 2013 goal is to collectively raise 34,000 lbs of food and sufficient financial support to allow for distribution of this food to neighbours.

  • Canstruction Waterloo Region is part of an international competition. Rules and Regulations established by the International Committee are followed and assist with building guidelines.
  • Structures have been judged  at the mall in the categories of Best Meal, Best Use of Labels, Structural Ingenuity, Honourable Mention, Judges' Favourite, Most Cans. The People's Choice Award will be determined at the end of the week based on the structure that raises the most in financial donations.
