What is DIG IN?
DIG IN is a one day region-wide food drive to raise non-perishable food needed for the summer months at The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
This is a chance for the entire community to get involved, raise a lot of food for those needing help and have fun!
Why?
26, 500 people needed food assistance last year. Almost 40% of these are children. The need for emergency food continues throughout the summer while many people are on vacation and not thinking of The Food Bank and the over 76 food programs it services: hampers, community meals, shelters and residential programs.
Where will DIG IN take place?
There will be events and activities at donation sites throughout the region organized by neighbourhood associations, businesses, organizations and schools. See Donation Site section to the left for the most up to date locations.
You can DIG IN and help!
-
Host a neighbourhood donation site for community food donations
-
Collect food and take it to a donation site
-
Adopt a neighbourhood to promote the food drive
-
Volunteer by assisting at a donation site, sorting food or transporting food.
Click here to DIG IN! Fill in our Registration Form in order to host a donation site or to let us know you are collection food to take to a site or to volunteer.
