In the Community: Alles Drywall & Interior Construction

February 7th, 2020In the Community

You might not realize it, but you’ve probably seen the handy-work of the Alles Drywall & Interior Construction team. In fact, you might be surrounded by it right now.

For 20 years, Alles Drywall & Interior Construction has been an award-winning full service Industrial-Commercial-Industrial (ICI) contracting firm in Waterloo Region, known for high quality workmanship and on-time delivery of services. They are responsible for many of the buildings in our community, including Conestoga College, University of Waterloo (UW), Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU), BlackBerry OpenText and evolv1 – Canada’s first zero-carbon building – as well as many other tech-start-ups and flourishing businesses.

And while they might be the type to “fly under the radar”, their commitment to the community can’t be denied. They recently partnered with The Food Bank of Waterloo Region as the presenting sponsor for Canstruction® Waterloo Region  – a unique event that encourages designers, architects and engineers to use their skills to help those struggling with food security.

In this business profile, we chat with Rob Alles, Chief Executive Officer at Alles Drywall & Interior Construction Inc., to learn more about their organization and why giving back to the community is important.

The Food Bank of Waterloo Region (The Food Bank): Tell me a little bit about your Alles Drywall & Interior Construction Inc.?

Alles Drywall & Interior Construction Inc.: We are an interior systems contracting firm, focused on commercial construction, high-rise buildings, industrial, commercial and institution (ICI). We work primarily in Southwestern Ontario, predominately in Waterloo Region.  Our strength is in our qualified, talented team members.  We excel at building complicated projects, working with custom architectural products, large scale projects and maintaining accelerated schedules.

The Food Bank: Why is it important, as an organization, to give back to the community?

Alles Drywall & Interior Construction Inc.: I just feel like it is the right thing to do. The community has (and continues to) give us so much; this is our chance to give back. We’re not doing this for the exposure; we’re doing it because it makes sense to give back.

The Food Bank: What does it mean to you and your organization to be able to give back so generously to the charitable and non-profit organizations in Waterloo Region?

Alles Drywall & Interior Construction Inc.: Canstruction® Waterloo Region is a natural, great fit for us. We thought it was an excellent opportunity to help people in need and we think it’s a great event for our employees to enjoy (with their families and friends).

The Food Bank: How does your organization/business/group support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region?

Alles Drywall & Interior Construction Inc.: We are a first-time sponsor and the presenting sponsor of Canstruction® Waterloo Region. By supporting this event, we are helping to provide an additional 22,500 meals to people accessing food assistance.

The Food Bank: Why do you and/or your organization support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region?

Alles Drywall & Interior Construction Inc.: As a business, we have always done things in the community and this year we began looking at organizations we had not supported before. I actually attended Waffles in the Warehouse back in September and it was an eye-opener for me, I knew there was a need but until that event I didn’t understand the full extent and number of people in our community that access food assistance.

There wasn’t one deciding factor to supporting The Food Bank; I think it is important work that makes a difference in the lives of those in our community.
