Community Rallies to Show Support during #GivingTuesdayNow

May 6th, 2020Media Releases

On Tuesday, May 5, we celebrated the first-ever #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unlike the regular #GivingTuesday that unofficially kicks-off the holiday season each year, #GivingTuesdayNow went beyond fundraising and was an opportunity to unite people (virtually) – through community connections and generosity – during this unprecedented health crisis.

While we didn’t set a specific goal for #GivingTuesdayNow, we did ask for your support to help us acquire and distribute much-needed food, and ensure continued service delivery for the thousands of people, families and children in our community impacted by COVID-19.

We are excited to announce with your overwhelming support we will be able to provide an additional 75, 585 meals!

It is often recommended to prepare for emergency situations but the reality is not everyone is able to do so. Many people and families in our community have felt the stress of job loss, unexpected illness and being unable to purchase necessities due to the pandemic.
