In the Community: Aire One Heating & Cooling KW

August 5th, 2021In the Community

For more than 30 years, Aire One Heating & Cooling KW has been helping Ontarians with their furnace and air conditioner needs. Trusted by thousands throughout the province, they are well-known for their expertise, exceptional customer service and high-quality products.

The Kitchener-based team gained notoriety a few years ago when they launched an overwhelmingly successful fundraiser in support of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. The fundraiser – a first for the local office – donated a portion from every installation directly to The Food Bank. Their goal with this spring fundraiser was ambitious; to raise 34,552 meals, one meal for every person in our community struggling to put food on the table.

In this business profile, we chat with Lori Telford, Office Manager at Kitchener-based Aire One Heating & Cooling KW to learn why they held their first fundraiser in 2020 in support of The Food Bank and what it means to them.

Update: Aire One KW continues to support The Food Bank through Food & Fund Drive initiatives, to date the organization has raised 64,037 meals.

The Food Bank: Why is it important, as a business, to give back to the community?

Aire One Heating & Cooling KW: It is important for us to give back because we can. We have been lucky and fortunate throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to keep most of our team working, so we felt it was a good idea to do some good for the community that supports us. We wanted to make a difference where we believed we would make the most impact.

The Food Bank: What does it mean to your business to be able to give back so generously to the charitable and non-profit organizations in Waterloo Region?

Aire One Heating & Cooling KW: It’s rewarding. We know our support is making a direct impact in the community. The Food Bank serves a purpose for everyone, there is no bias or discrimination. If you need help, you can get it.

The Food Bank: How does your business support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region?

Aire One Heating & Cooling KW: In May 2020 we launched our first fundraiser, where $50 from every installation was donated to The Food Bank. From there the partnership grew and we sponsored Waffles in the Warehouse.  We decided to continue our efforts in the Fall Harvest and Holiday Food Drives by asking our customers to participate and our technicians to pick up any donations made. To date, we have been able to provide almost 40,000 meals (and counting) to The Food Bank.

The Food Bank: Why does your business support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region?

Aire One Heating & Cooling KW: We support The Food Bank because of the direct impact it has on people living in our community. The first time I visited the warehouse was eye-opening, I was amazed how the team at The Food Bank operates. The logistics of collecting, sorting, and distributing the food is incredible. The staff and volunteers at The Food Bank make it easy to work together and help make a difference in peoples lives when they need it most.
