With provincial election looming, Food Bank of Waterloo Region weighs in on affordable child care

In this month’s opinion editorial in the Waterloo Chronicle, Wendi Campbell, CEO of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, addresses the importance of affordable child care and data-informed policies, in light of the new child care agreement between the federal and provincial governments. This agreement will allow parents to re-enter the workforce; families with children will be better positioned to make ends meet; the economy will receive a boost; and it will help reduce dependency on food banks. This is a critical stepping stone, but more work needs to be done to ensure equal access within underserved communities.
