Support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region this Thanksgiving

October 7th, 2022Awareness, Events, Volunteers

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, marking a time when people are often interested in giving back to their community.

Here’s how you can get involved to make sure no one goes hungry this holiday.

Donations at local grocery stores

Grocery stores across Waterloo region accept non-perishable food donations at any time. We encourage you to buy an item or two during your regular grocery shop and leave them in one of our bins at the store.

Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade

On October 10, if you are attending the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade, bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Onkel Hans Food Drive. Volunteers will be along the parade route to collect your donations, including cash. To make it easy to donate using a debit or credit card, our volunteers will also have tiptap devices.

Make a financial donation

Financial donations are a great way to help The Food Bank restock our shelves and keep food safe. Financial donations keep our trucks on the road and help maintain our refrigerators and freezers in our warehouse. Financial donations can be made at thefoodbank.ca/donate. Every dollar donated provides three meals to people in need.
