Sponsor Spotlight: Caudle’s Catch Seafood
November 7th, 2023In the Community
Helping neighbours in need is a community effort. Here at The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, we couldn’t support our community the way we do without the incredible generosity of sponsors like Caudle’s Catch Seafood.
Ron Caudle and his wife, Sylvia, founded Caudle’s Catch Seafood 37 years ago after discovering how much people in Kitchener-Waterloo enjoyed seafood from Ron’s hometown, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Back in the early 1980s, it seemed like every time Ron and Sylvia went out east, people in Kitchener-Waterloo would ask them to bring back seafood with them. This led the couple to open Caudle’s Catch Seafood in 1986.
Today, Caudle’s Catch Seafood ships their products all over Canada. You can shop online or if you’re local to Waterloo region, you can also buy their seafood at their Kitchener superstore, Vincenzo’s, the Kitchener Market, the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market, or the Cambridge Farmers’ Market.
Being that they’re in the food industry, supporting The Food Bank seemed fitting. Since 2015, Caudle’s Catch Seafood has been a dedicated food industry partner of The Food Bank, providing us with both donated seafood and seafood at a discounted rate. In the last year, they provided us with over 27,000 pounds of seafood which amounts to more than 21,000 meals for people in our community.
“Giving back to the community is very important to us,” says Ron. “It’s really rewarding to see the number of meals, to know we’re making a difference.”
In addition to being one of our food industry partners, Caudle’s Catch Seafood also supports our Food & Fund Drive program through sponsorship. If you’ve ever organized or participated in a food and fund drive, you might have seen the Caudle’s Catch Seafood logo on our bags and boxes. Their sponsorship alone provides 20,000 meals for people in need.
Ron encourages other businesses to join him in supporting The Food Bank.
“There are more and more people that are using The Food Bank. You can’t stand still,” says Ron. “Meet with The Food Bank and do a tour. See the scope of what they do there. It blows people away.”
