Empty Bowls tickets on sale for May 28 event supporting The Food Bank of Waterloo Region

Waterloo Region, Ont., May 1, 2024Tickets are on sale for this year’s Empty Bowls event on Tuesday, May 28 at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Lazaridis Hall.

The 26th annual event, organized by Laurier’s Robert Langen Art Gallery and the Waterloo Potters’ Workshop, raises money for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

Tickets, which cost $50 and include entry to the 11:30 a.m. lunch or 5 p.m. dinner, are available at

At the event, attendees choose from a selection of unique bowls crafted and donated by local artisans from the Waterloo Potters’ Workshop. This keepsake is for use during the event to sample a variety of tasty gourmet soups from local chefs and restaurants.

Since 1998, Empty Bowls has raised awareness about hunger in Waterloo region and has provided over 1.4 million meals for people in need. For every ticket sold this year, The Food Bank can provide 100 healthy meals for the more than 58,600 individuals in Waterloo region who depend on food assistance programs.

About Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls is a movement started by artists and craftspeople in cities around the world to raise funds for charities that help feed the hungry in their communities. These events have raised millions of dollars globally to help fight hunger. In 1998, the Waterloo Potters’ Workshop held its first-ever Empty Bowls event to support The Food Bank. Since then, the event has raised over 1.4 million meals for people who need them.
