The Food Bank of Waterloo Region releases 2024 Community Impact report, celebrates 40th anniversary

Waterloo Region, Ont., October 17, 2024 – On Monday, October 21, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region will release its 2024 Community Impact report, which includes the latest data on how many people in the region are struggling to put food on the table. The report is crucial for understanding the ongoing challenges of food insecurity in Waterloo region.

In addition to the report release, The Food Bank will celebrate its 40th anniversary. In October 1984, The Food Bank officially signed its Letters Patent, a document that gave the organization legal status and formalized its commitment to serving the community. This milestone also marked the beginning of The Food Bank’s journey to address food insecurity in the region.

  • Kim Wilhelm, CEO, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region
  • David Brenneman, Chair, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region Board of Directors
  • Karen Redman, Chair, Region of Waterloo
  • Martin Buhr, one of six community members who signed The Food Bank’s Letters Patent in 1984
