After a hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region held its annual Agency Forum on November 17. Agency partners and community programs in the Community Food Assistance Network came together for an energizing morning of in-person connection and learning.

The Faces of Hunger: Paulette’s story

Paulette Williams knows what it is like to be a single parent and needing the help of a food assistance program to feed her kids. That experience is one of the reasons she volunteers at Kingdom Community International, overseeing the volunteers and organizing the distribution of food provided by The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

The Faces of Hunger: Jess’ story

Jess Fry spent a large part of her life on the streets, using both heroin and meth. Today, she’s the coordinator for The Waterloo Region Community Health Van, operated by Sanguen Health Centre. Each week, the van stops at shelters, supportive housing units, and encampments, providing healthcare services and other supports such as nutritious snacks.
