Thien’s Story: From Gratitude to Giving Back at Great Food Sort Challenge
When Thien Nguyen was 18, his father suffered a heart attack, and his mother became ill, making it impossible for them to work. Within a year, their savings were depleted, and they needed extra support to get by. Fortunately, someone introduced them to the Community Food Assistance Network, supported by The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

On November 13, Swifties from our community gathered at The Food Bank of Waterloo Region’s distribution centre for our Swifties Against Hunger event. Through ticket sales and generous non-perishable food donations, they helped raise an incredible 1,258 meals.

MTE Consultants and WalterFedy: Two businesses passionate about building a future without hunger
Canstruction Waterloo Region 2024 raised an incredible 113,284 meals for people in need in our community. MTE Consultants, a multidisciplinary engineering firm, and WalterFedy, a multidisciplinary design firm, were two of the 14 participating teams. For both businesses, the 2024 event marked their 15th year participating in Canstruction.

From June 14 to 16, the Westmount Golf & Country Club hosted its 8th annual Tradition Charity Tennis Tournament in Kitchener. This year’s event raised over $118,000 for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
