Church of St. John the Evangelist Annual Pudding Factory - November 3

Every November since 1948, members of the Church of St. John the Evangelist in downtown Kitchener have operated a Pudding Factory. Volunteers, some of whom have been involved for decades, produce Christmas puddings for sale, with proceeds supporting the church as well as local charities.

This year marks the 71st annual Factory. After turning the church hall into a production line, dozens of volunteers will mix, steam and wrap 2,000 pounds of Christmas puddings. Customers have sent these traditional desserts, which are made using a cherished recipe, across Canada and as far as Australia and Afghanistan.

As part of St. John’s mission of outreach, a portion of this year’s proceeds will go to Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region and East Village Animal Hospital, a not-for-profit organization that helps people with low incomes care for their pets.

Orders for puddings need to be placed by noon on Sunday, November 3rd, with pudding production underway at the church the following week (November 4-7).

Orders can be placed:

  • Online at the John’s website
  • By emailing acw@stjohn316.com
  • By phoning Bette at 519-885-0828
  • In person at the Kitchener Farmers’ Market (Lower Level) on Saturday, November 2, 2019. A limited number of puddings will also be available for purchase at the Market or at the Church on Saturday, November 9.
