How You Can Help

Volunteering

Volunteers are essential to our work at The Food Bank of Waterloo Region and have a crucial role in all aspects of our operations. From accepting community donations, attending events, sorting food donations, packing food hampers, to delivering food to the 54 organizations in the Community Food Assistance Network, we couldn’t do our work without volunteers. Visit our Volunteer page to learn about the different volunteer opportunities available.

Financial Donations

Financial donations can be made in the following ways:

  • Online: thefoodbank.ca/donate
  • Phone: 519.743.5576 x 224
  • Mail/In-Person: The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, 50 Alpine Court, Kitchener, ON, N2E 2M7

Tax receipts are available for all donations.

Gifts In Kind

Financial donations and sponsorships are important to offset program and operating costs but gifts of equipment, supplies, space and services are also valued. Saving operating and administration costs allows more funds to be made available for food acquisition and distribution where it is needed most. Examples may include: office furniture, office supplies, warehouse supplies, auto repair service, event supplies.

If you are considering a gift in kind, please email donor@thefoodbank.ca for more information.

Food Donations

If you want to give food, you can drop off a non-perishable food item to any grocery store or police, fire, or paramedic station in Kitchener-Waterloo. Check out our most needed items.

Run a food and fund drive

Helping neighbours in need is a community effort. Between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024, food and fund drives provided 1.8 million meals to individuals and families in need across Waterloo region. When you host a food and fund drive you are improving the community that you live and work in, and showing people they matter.
