Mobile Pantry

Launched in 2021 with the support of a $92,800 Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Mobile Pantry travels to neighbourhoods across Waterloo region, making it easier and more convenient for individuals and families to access essential food support from the Community Food Assistance Network.

Serving communities across Waterloo region

Five Network partners, including Stanley Park Community Centre in Kitchener and Lincoln Road Chapel in Waterloo, host the Mobile Pantry at their locations. During each visit, the Mobile Pantry provides fresh, frozen, and non-perishable food for up to 160 households.

By the numbers

Last year, the Mobile Pantry:

  • Received 21,890 visits
  • Helped 3,065 people
  • Distributed 7,860 food hampers

Looking ahead

In the future, The Food Bank hopes to expand the Mobile Pantry program to more neighbourhoods, ensuring food support is easily accessible to those who need it the most.

The Mobile Pantry is a key component of the Saving Fresh. Feeding Community. initiative, a program dedicated to increasing the quality, quantity, and variety of fresh food distributed to people accessing food assistance.
