Partnerships and Collaborations
Learn about partnership and collaboration opportunities!
Hunger is a complex problem, but with the help of partners and collaborators, we can bring food assistance to every part of Waterloo region.
We invite you to check out the different ways we can work together and fill out an Expression of Interest form. Even if your initiative doesn’t qualify as a partner, we’re always happy to explore new ideas for collaboration.
Information to get you started
Minimum partnership requirements
This section outlines the minimum requirements for partnership. Even if your initiative doesn’t meet all the criteria, there may still be opportunities to collaborate. While collaborators will not receive food orders directly, they may work with an existing partner.
- Be a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency and meet their regulations for at least a year.
- Serve individuals and families living in Waterloo region.
- Align with service standards including Food Banks Canada’s Ethical Food Banking Code and Feed Ontario’s Client’s Rights and Service Standards.
- Operate during extended weekend or evening hours.
- Operate to serve residents where no existing Community Food Assistance Network partner is currently active or address any limitations in food assistance access.
- Support community members in alignment with the Region of Waterloo’s Plan to End Chronic Homelessness.
- Complete up to six-weeks of onboarding and partnership readiness.
Collaboration opportunities
If your organization or initiative doesn’t meet the partnership requirements right now, there are still many ways we can collaborate. Some examples include:
- Connecting people with existing food assistance services.
- Partnering on events or workshops.
- Advocating together on shared issues to create a bigger impact.
If you have any questions about collaboration opportunities, email us at agency@thefoodbank.ca or fill out an Expression of Interest form to join an information session.
