Easy Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 (28 ounce) canned crushed tomatoes
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar, optional
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Add the onion, garlic, and oil to a saucepan and sauté over medium heat until onions are soft.
  2. Add tomato paste and continue to stir and cook for 3–5 minutes.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, brown sugar, and salt to the pot. Stir to combine.
  4. Allow the sauce to come to a simmer then reduce heat to medium–low. Partially cover pot and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
