Time is running out; don’t miss your chance to donate to vote!
Kitchener, ON – May 8, 2018 – The clock is ticking; don’t miss your chance to vote for the
prestigious People’s Choice Award at the 11th Annual Canstruction® Waterloo Region. Stop by
Conestoga Mall until May 13th, to see the impressive structures and donate to vote for your
favourite!
Voting is easy and can be done in person at Conestoga Mall or online at: thefoodbank.ca/canstruction. One dollar = one vote and that provides 3 meals in our community.
“Canstruction provides a much needed boost to The Food Bank, especially as we head into the summer months, where donations slow down,” said Wendi Campbell, Executive Director at The Food Bank. “All food items and funds raised help us provide food for 215 emergency hampers and more than 2,000 community meals, through the Community Food Assistance Network, needed every day in our community.”
The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 on The Food Bank of Waterloo Region website and social media accounts.
Judging for the remaining categories – Structural Ingenuity, Best Meal, Best Use of Labels, Most
Cans, Honourable Mention and Judges’ Favourite – took place on May 7th, 2018. The judges’ – Angie Hill, 99.5 KFUN radio host, Steve Stecho, Grand Valley Construction Association board chair, Chef D, Chef D TV host, Doug Lockston, Conestoga College professor – have awarded the following winners in each category:
- Structural Ingenuity – Stantec – “The Little Pollinator than CAN”
- Best Meal – MTE – “Bring Hunger to Extinction”
- Best Use of Labels – Wilfrid Laurier University, Faculty of Science – “Focusing on Science”
- Most Cans – Stubbe’s Precast – “Canada from Coast to Coast”
- Honourable Mention – Brock Solutions – “Exploring Engineering Limits”
- Judges’ Favourite – MTE – “Bring Hunger to Extinction”
This year’s event features 12 teams: IBEW Local 804 – IBEW NextGen, Muslim Association of Canada, MTE Consultants, Quadro, Rombald, Engineering Society of University of Waterloo – Mechanical Engineering Class of 2019 & FEDS, Brock Solutions, Dillon Consulting, Laurier
Faculty of Science, Stantec, Stubbe’s Precast and WalterFedy.
