Four Waterloo-Wellington food banks to unveil transformative philanthropic investment to strengthen local food security

Waterloo-Wellington, Ont., September 17, 2026 – Media are invited to attend a special announcement on Tuesday, September 22, as four Waterloo-Wellington food banks come together to unveil a transformative philanthropic investment that will help shape the future of food security in the region.

At a time when food bank use is reaching record levels, leaders from the Cambridge Food Bank, Centre Wellington Food Bank, Guelph Food Bank, and The Food Bank of Waterloo Region will be joined by a prominent local philanthropist to announce a major commitment aimed at strengthening support for thousands of adults and children experiencing food insecurity.

Grounded in a shared vision of nourishing our neighbours—today and tomorrow, together, this donation marks a significant step forward in the collective effort to address rising need and build healthier, more resilient communities across Waterloo-Wellington.

Together, the Cambridge Food Bank, Centre Wellington Food Bank, Guelph Food Bank, and The Food Bank of Waterloo Region support more than 82,000 adults and children facing food insecurity across Waterloo-Wellington. As demand for food assistance continues to reach record levels, the four organizations work collaboratively to ensure neighbours have access to the food and support they need, while building long-term solutions that strengthen the health and well-being of our communities.
