Join The Food Bank for Canstruction Waterloo Region build day

Waterloo Region, Ont., March 12, 2026 – Canstruction Waterloo Region, presented by Cohen Highley Lawyers, returns to Conestoga Mall during March Break, March 14 to 22!

Hosted by The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, this week-long initiative brings together local businesses and community groups to showcase their creativity while building a future without hunger.

Since its inception in 2008, Canstruction Waterloo Region has raised over 1.9 million meals. This year, The Food Bank hopes to raise 100,000 meals to support community members experiencing food insecurity.

Event highlights

Public viewing

  • When: March 14–22
  • What: The public is invited to visit Conestoga Mall, view the impressive structures, and donate to vote for their favourite build. All proceeds support The Food Bank.
  • People’s Choice Award: The structure with the most public votes will receive the award, presented on March 23.

March Break fun

  • Families and children can join the excitement by searching for Phil the Food Drive Bag stickers hidden in the structures.
  • Finding three stickers qualifies participants for a chance to win a prize. The draw will take place on March 23.

Media opportunity

  • When: Friday, March 13 | 3–4:30 p.m.
  • Where: Conestoga Mall, Winners Court (check in at The Food Bank booth)
  • What: Media are invited to capture the creative process as 13 teams bring their imaginative designs to life using over 26,000 unopened food cans.
  • Interview opportunities: Kim Wilhelm, CEO of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, is available for media interviews. Four participating teams (MTE Consultants, Brock Solutions, Demant, J.L. Richards & Associates Limited) are also available for interviews.
