On September 22, we’re hosting our 10th annual Waffles in the Warehouse event in support of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. This event is an opportunity for community members and leaders to visit our distribution centre to learn more about The Food Bank and the powerful impact we have in nourishing our community. Both in-person and virtual tickets are available.
This year’s event is presented by Aire One Heating & Cooling KW. As a family owned and operated company, they take pride in providing excellent customer service and care deeply about supporting their community.
“Giving back to our community is really important to us,” says Lori Telford, marketing and advertising at Aire One KW. “They [community] have supported us for over 23 years, and we believe this is one way we can support our neighbours in need. We chose to partner with The Food Bank because of its all-encompassing approach. Everybody that needs heat, needs food.”
In addition to being the presenting sponsor for Waffles in the Warehouse, Aire One KW is also a Food & Fund Drive sponsor. For several years now, they’ve been collecting food and funds on an ongoing basis for The Food Bank, allowing their customers to pass along monetary or non-perishable donations to their service technicians during their service appointments. They then drop off the donations collected to our facility every few weeks. Their support has helped to provide more than 135,000 meals to those in need of food assistance.
“Every day is a food drive here,” Lori explains. “It’s become a part of our culture. It’s wonderful to pass by the collection bin we have on site and see it filling up.”
Lori encourages other businesses interested in sponsoring The Food Bank to learn more by buying a ticket to Waffles in the Warehouse or by booking a tour.
“When I went on a tour [at The Food Bank], I was in complete awe,” Lori says. “I always knew The Food Bank provided food for those in need, but I didn’t know to what depth. The facility is mind-blowing, and The Food Bank team and volunteers do an amazing job of organizing it all.”
